Welcome
ELEVATED is a social experience that asks the question: What would be possible if you loved yourself more?
This page is your guide for the evening.
Sign in below and take a moment to arrive. Settle your body, feel the music, and let yourself land before we begin.
I'm genuinely glad you're here.

Meet Your Host
Mikala is the creator and host of ELEVATED.
Over 19 years behind the chair has taught her that people reveal themselves in proximity, and that the most meaningful thing she can offer is her full attention.
Her work is informed by those years as a hairstylist, teaching in classrooms and on stages, through a 200-hour Journey into Power yoga teacher training at Khali Yoga Center, rooted in Baptiste yoga principles and Light Year Leadership tactics, and by her active practice as a Womb Health Practitioner.
Tonight, Mikala's role is simple: hold the room so the music, the journaling, and the people around you can do what they came here to do.
ELEVATED: Session 5 + 1st Anniversary
Journaling Prompts – Believing in Yourself
-
PROMPT 1 - Inner World
Is there something you've been wanting to do or create, but you find yourself facing self-doubt?
Or maybe there’s something you've been close to giving up on, or something you've been told probably won't work out…
What would be possible for you if you chose to believe in yourself instead?
-
PROMPT 2 - Outer World
Now think about how self-doubt shows up beyond you, and how that impacts the world around you.
This might look like how you show up for the people around you, what you say yes or no to, and what you let yourself be seen doing.
What would be possible in your relationships, your work, or your life in general if you stopped waiting to be certain before you moved forward?
Press play.
ELEVATED lives on SoundCloud so the experience doesn't have to end tonight.
Previous sets are already up, and tonight's session will be added.
The night ends. The feeling doesn't have to.

the COVER CHARGE is a weekend giving practice.
You already know how to find money for a night out. The Lyft, the pre-game, the dinner, the fit.
The Cover Charge asks you to set aside a little of that same energy for something outside of yourself, as a thank you for the freedom to go out, dance, and connect with each other.
It’s meant to be done alongside your weekend, not in place of it. Whether it’s $3, $15, or $250, it’s less about the amount and more about the practice. Over time, it becomes as automatic as calling your ride.
Each week I share two places to give, and you choose where your money goes. Every link here goes straight to the organization or the person.
Always on the list
Those living in the Charlotte, NC area gather, dance, socialize and connect on Catawba land.
Because of this, the Catawba Nation is my standing recommendation for those who live in this area and are in need of direction for their donation.
You don’t live in Charlotte? Find out whose land you’re on.
Each week I will also suggest an alternative option for donations. This is selected by something that is important or impactful to me, or someone in my community.
Two of my favorites on rotation are the GoFundMe to support a dear friend, Luis Bayon, who is currently battling leukemia and these funds directly support his recovery.
Time Out Youth is an organization that I have begun suporting though my attendance at RAIN Charlotte’s annual White Party. Time Out Youth Center offers support, advocacy, and opportunities for personal development and social interaction to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) youth ages 13-24.

Mentoring
There are three ways to work with me one-on-one, and you don’t need to have it all figured out.
The sessions that go deepest are with people who are open to what comes up and ready to go there. Maybe it’s a pattern that keeps repeating, a habit that lingers, or self-doubt that gets loudest right when it’s go-time.
My intention is to help you cut through the noise and make the shift feel simpler. Start with one session, go further with three, or take a deep dive.
