About Mikala

I’m a hairstylist, facilitator, and guide whose work centers self-trust, clarity, and thoughtful expression — behind the chair and beyond.

Who I Am

I’m Mikala, a hairstylist of 18+ years whose work has always gone deeper than hair.

What I’ve learned, through years behind the chair and through my own lived experience, is that people seek change when something inside them is already shifting. I believe our hair is one of the most honest places that transformation shows up.

I work best with people who are thoughtful, self-aware, and ready to invest in themselves — not to become someone new, but to feel more like who they already are.

My role isn’t to perform, persuade, or push.

It’s to listen closely, reflect honestly, and create from a place of trust.

The Heart of True North

True North Artistry is the home for my hair work — and the philosophy that guides it.

It’s rooted in discernment, quality, and respect for the individual sitting in my chair. Nothing here is trend-driven or rushed. Everything is created with intention — from how services are structured, to how time is honored, to how presence is held.

My goal is always the same: for people to leave feeling more grounded, confident, and at ease than when they arrived.

True North isn’t about reinvention.

It’s about clarity — and the confidence that grows from it.

What does it mean to find your True North?

Finding your True North rarely feels flashy.

More often, it feels like coming home to yourself.

It’s the moment you stop performing or shrinking to fit. The moment choices become simpler, expression feels natural, and confidence comes from within rather than approval.

This is the energy that lives underneath my work.

I want to be surrounded by people, places, and practices that ask something real of us. That invite honesty, presence, and growth. And I want that same expansion for the people I work with.

An Evolving Body of Work

True North Artistry is a living body of work — shaped by where I’ve been, what I’ve learned, and how I continue to grow.

Hair is where most people meet me, and it remains the foundation of my work. But it’s not the only place my attention lives. Over time, my practice has expanded to include spaces for reflection, conversation, and deeper self-relationship — not as a pivot away from hair, but as a natural extension of the same values.

This includes ELEVATED, a facilitated experience for introspection, connection, and self-love, held in community, as well as my ongoing training as a Womb Health Practitioner, where I’m deepening my understanding of the body, nervous system, and long-term wellbeing. I also work with a small number of clients through one-on-one mentorship, by inquiry.

These aren’t separate identities or disconnected offerings.

They all come from the same place: a commitment to self-trust, personal health, and honest expression.

As my work evolves, the container evolves with it — intentionally, thoughtfully, and without rushing. The people who resonate with this space are often in a similar season themselves: ready to expand, not by becoming someone else, but by being more fully who they already are.

I’m not interested in minimums. Not from myself or from the spaces I choose to be part of.

I care about work that invites more truth, more presence, and more embodiment. About relationships that allow us to show up fully, without pretending, holding back, or performing for acceptance.

If something here resonates, it’s likely because you’re already noticing it within yourself.

And that’s a great place to begin.
